📝 学习建议

  • 形容词用法属于过时用法,现代阅读中通常先按动词理解。
📖 中文释义
adj
  • rare 经过深思的(旧)
    📖 指某事已经被仔细思考或筹划过,但这是过时的形容词用法,现代英语中很少见。

    not-comparable obsolete
verb
  • core 沉思;专心思索
    📖 指把注意力长时间集中在某个主题、文字或问题上,安静而深入地思考,重点是持续专注,而不只是突然想到一下。
    💡 常用“meditate on/upon + 主题”或单独使用,后面的主题通常是抽象问题、文字或人生议题。这个用法较正式,文学和书面语中尤其常见;日常随口说“想一想”时,通常不必特意选它。
    intransitive
He spent the evening meditating on the meaning of the poem.
    他整个晚上都在沉思这首诗的含义。
She meditated quietly on the nature of courage.
    她静静地思考勇气的本质。
  • common 冥想;打坐
    📖 指坐着或躺着让身体和心境进入深度安静状态,同时保持清醒;这里强调的是一种有意识的静心练习。
    💡 通常作不及物动词使用,可接表示时间、地点或频率的成分。这个用法常见于健康、正念和日常习惯语境,但不要误以为它表示睡着或失去意识。
    intransitive
She meditates for ten minutes before work every morning.

First attested in 1560; borrowed from Latin meditātus, perfect active participle of meditor (“to think or reflect upon, consider, design, purpose, intend”) (see -ate (verb-forming suffix) and -ate (adjective-forming suffix)), morphologically as if frequentative of medeor (“to heal, to cure, to remedy”); in sense and in form near to Ancient Greek μελετάω (meletáō, “to care for, attend to, study, practise, etc.”). Participial usage up until Early Modern English.
