📝 学习建议
  • 先掌握“爆炸”和“引爆”这条核心线索,再记比喻义“突然暴怒”。
  • 不要把它泛泛理解成任何“破裂”或“坏掉”;它通常强调突然、猛烈的爆炸,尤其常用于炸药等爆炸物。
📖 中文释义
verb
  • core 爆炸
    📖 指爆炸物或其他物体突然猛烈地爆炸,重点是爆炸这一事件本身,而不是谁让它发生。
    💡 常用句型是“爆炸物 + detonate”或“detonate + 在某处”。它多用于描述突然而猛烈的爆炸,语气比一般的“爆裂”更强;这里不要再接表示被引爆对象的宾语。
    intransitive
The bomb detonated before the police could reach it.
    炸弹在警方赶到之前爆炸了。
The device may detonate if it is disturbed.
    这个装置受到干扰后可能会爆炸。
  • common 爆炸(尤指爆炸物)
    📖 尤其用于炸弹、炸药等爆炸物猛烈爆炸的情形,可以看作“爆炸”这一核心意思在技术或事件报道中的常见用法。
    💡 常见句型是“炸弹、炸药或装置 + detonate”。这种用法在新闻报道、军事和安全说明中很自然,日常口语描述普通物品坏裂时通常不用它;不要把它误当成单纯的“发出响声”。
    especially intransitive
Several mines detonated during the attack.
    袭击期间有几枚地雷爆炸了。
  • core 引爆
    📖 指某人或某个装置让炸药、炸弹等发生爆炸,焦点从“自己炸开”转为“使它炸开”。
    💡 基本句型是“人或装置 + detonate + 炸弹、炸药等”。这是及物用法,后面通常要有被引爆的对象;不要因为中文里常说“爆炸”就省掉这个宾语。
    transitive
The engineers detonated the dynamite and watched the old building collapse.
    工程师引爆了炸药,看着那座旧建筑倒塌。
The team detonated the controlled charge at dawn.
    小组在黎明时引爆了定向炸药。
  • common 突然暴怒
    📖 比喻人的怒气像爆炸一样突然冲出来,表示突然强烈地发火,而不是字面上的爆炸。
    💡 常用句型是“某人 + detonate”或“某人 + detonate over/about + 事情”。这是带有形象色彩的比喻用法,多用于叙述或评论;不要把它当作普通的“生气”,因为它强调怒火突然爆发。
    figuratively intransitive
He detonated when he realized that someone had lied to him.
    他发现有人骗了自己后,突然暴怒起来。

🌳 词源
1729年已有记录,可能来自法语或拉丁语,词源本义与“雷鸣、轰响”有关,后来发展出“发出巨大声响并爆炸”的含义。
First attested in 1729; either borrowed from French détoner or directly from Latin dētonātus, perfect passive participle of dētonō (“to thunder down (strongly); (figuratively, of a person) to thunder, speak threateningly, to rage; to stop thundering”) (see -ate (verb-forming suffix)), from dē- (“off, from”) + tonō (“to thunder”)). Ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *(s)tenh₂-. The current interlingual meaning seems to be a new formation in postclassical times (to thunder → make a large noise → explode), compare explode.
